IFO, our subsidiary in the Republic of Congo, has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for its forestry concession. FSC-certified lumber and logs from IFO are sold by Danzer Group subsidiaries Interholco and Danzer U.K., while FSC-certified veneers are available through Danzer Europe Veneer (DEV). You can choose from a wide range and variety of species.
FSC certificates have become an important selling point for wood products because they guarantee that the timber originates from forests managed sustainably and socially responsible.. The demand for FSC-certified timber products is increasing worldwide. With our FSC certified logs, lumber and veneers you can promote your products with the FSC label and benefit from better marketing opportunities.
The FSC certificate guarantees that IFO’s 1.16 million-hectare (2.9 million-acre) forest concession is managed according to the FSC forest management standard that includes social, economic and ecological requirements.
FSC certification for IFO was approved by the independent certification company, Société Général de Surveillance (SGS), after an extensive audit. The audit considered social, ecological and economic aspects of responsible forestry.
To date, the IFO forest concession is the largest in Africa which has been awarded full FSC certification
FSC certification is also planned for 1.9 million hectares (4.7 million acres) of forest concessions belonging to SIFORCO, our subsidiary in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our work on a forest management plan can now begin following the government-appointed commission’s confirmation of legality at all SIFORCO concessions. The plan is one of the most important prerequisites for FSC certification. |
