Wood is valuable and of incomparable beauty and warmth. We surround ourselves with this natural material; we touch it and feel it, we admire it. Wood is alive. It grows over decades and sometimes matures over centuries. It breathes, it possesses a soul and has a character all its own.

But wood is more than just a material. It is a close, personal companion to mankind. And it is more akin to us than we might think.

Veneer is wood in its most precious form – extremely thin yet exquisitely crafted and perfect in its beauty. When you look closely at this unique part of nature, you begin to sense how many special characteristics and how much intrinsic value wood really has. In this way, wood really has much in common with people. Each person is unique in appearance and personality, has a specific origin and posses its own value and soul. Given the correct circumstances this synergy can be very obvious.

The 2008 Danzer Group calendar compares veneer with mankind and presents their common natural traits: aesthetic beauty and intrinsic value. People and veneer are not separate, distant entities. Quite the contrary. More and more we are coming closer and closer together and often it would seem we can even merge with one another.
